Is Facebook page selling risk free?
Okay, so I have a facebook page that managed to gather a small fan-base (just shy of 136,000 fans). As such I have recently been contacted by a number of individuals who state that they wish to purchase the page (via a PayPal payment or through Western Union). With the current highest offer being a significant $1,350 (US Dollars), I'm well into considering the offer. I just wanted to know, if I sold the page to this person, are there any possible risks or scams (legal or otherwise) to the selling my page?

Yes, there is. A HIGH one!
You should be sure that the person doesn't cancel their payment later to you and does pay to you and if he does and you don't give him the site, you could be sent to judge if you live in the U.S, which you do.

Its pretty high amout of cash, I would be sure that I got the money first.

I know that if you get scammed, no one, not even Facebook Support is going to give a sh*t because they just put the classic "You use Facebook on own risk".

Scammers are everywhere on Facebook. Those that offer insanely high amounts, like your $1,350, are most likely scammers. They offer high to get your interest and acceptance but say they won't pay you until they get the page. Once you transfer the page to them and ask for the money, they block you and keep the page without ever paying.

The only way to avoid being scammed is to insist you don't hand over the page until after the money is in your hands. If they refuse to pay before getting the page, it means they were going to take the page and run.

There are plenty of buyers who will pay upfront for a page, wait for one of them to come along before taking any risks.

Hi i bought my first fan page off http://fanpagetrade.com/forum
and they know their stuff, very professional and the transaction was flawless.
However my first time dealing by myself i got ripped off by some indian guy, but you are up against so many scammers that they will even send you $5000 on paypal and then when you give them the page they will just file for a charge back and get all their money and the page back...sneaking stuff to say the least.
But thats not the only risk, facebook is your biggest threat as well, if you are caught promoting your page to sell it, you can get your page banned easily by facebook, happened to me and it is against their terms and conditions.
I totally recommend http://fanpagetrade.com/ they have got some nice pages and are professional brokers in the industry IMO, I bought a 500K fully active USA, AUS and UK audience that makes me $1200 a month paired with my funny niche website.
They also have a competition running check it out http://fanpagetrade.com/forum/index.php?r=63
