Can I get netflix on my ipad1 by doing this?
I just bought an ipad 1 and am disappointed bc I can't download Facebook, netflix, or weatherbug. And more. It's maxed out at iOS 5.1.1. And this apps require ios6. I went here: https://discussions.apple.com/message/23918094#23918094
And it says if u just log into a computer to ur Apple ID and download these apps, the go to "purchased" on my ipad and download, then I'll get the iOS 5 version on my ipad. But do I have to have a apple computer? All I have is a dell laptop. Will it work? How will it even download things like Facebook and netflix APPS on my laptop? Do I go to something like "Apple iTunes/App Store" ?? Will it work or do I need a Apple Mac.

*Agh*

Alright, so I'm gonna be honest, getting a Ipad was the worst Idea for you. Apple didn't allow the first generation of Ipads to run IOS 6. In order to do what the Apple forum was telling you, you need to download this - ( http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ ) - Facebook, Netflix, and WeatherBug will NEVER work on your Ipad, and that's the reality. In fact, I advise you return the Ipad, and buy a Ipad 4 or Ipad mini

Yes your computer will run Itunes, but you HAVE to download it. Plug your Ipad into a usb port on your computer with the charger cord, once you have finished downloading Itunes.

I can get a ton of apps again on my Ipad1...

iOS: Good news for anyone who's got an older iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch and haven't been able to run the latest apps. The App Store now offers the option to download the "last compatible version" for your device.P

The change was noted by Reddit user justinbeiberispoop, who said that he was offered this option when trying to install Instagram on a 2nd-generation iPod touch.P

So even if the current version of an app doesn't work with your aging device, you might be able to install one that does work and breathe more life into that old hardware.P
