How do I tell my mom about my Instagram?

So, I have had it since August now, and I never thought my Mom would care (she doesn't care if I make accounts usually)

My sister found out (she lives with us, and is 23), so she just monitored me on it.

I am on private, my profile picture is me with a masquerade mask on, and I have 35 posts: none saying where I am or anything revealing like that. I have 39 followers, all except 4 are people I no, and no guys I don't know (I only have 2 following me: my best friend's cousin and a guy I keep encountering at school meetings ((BUT A SENIOR MUCH OLDER THAN ME AND HAS A GIRLFRIEND AND I DO. NOT. LIKE!!!!) Once my sister told me that my mom never let her have a social media thing at my age, I grew a little nervous, and deleted the application, but she told me to put it back, so I logged back on. I think my mom is catching onto me having one. What I orginally wanted to do was to want to show her something on my phone, but leave my Instagram on, and casually answer when she asks what it is, "Oh, its just Instagram. Its the only social media thing I have, and I have (my sister's name) monitoring it." and my sister is VERY protective over me. But I accidently said something that I saw on instagram, without mentioning where it was from, and quickly, but casually changed the subject, so I don't know how to tell her....

The way you said is fine. Or... Just start the conversation about how she didn't allow your sister to have a social page thing and then mention yourself if in the topic. If this makes sense.

Tell her that ur mature and u'll be responsible on it show her ur friends keeping it from her will only make it harder for you. And if she still doesn't want you to have one respect her decision she gave birth to you and she takes care of you, feeds u and pays for ur education.

If you have nothing to hide on your instagram then you have nothing to worry about. Your mom will be more angry at you if she finds out about your instagram from somewhere else, or in other words she will be more mad at you for betraying her trust and hiding your account from her.
You could get your sister to talk to her if you feel nervous telling her yourself. But I think that honesty is the best thing here so when you do tell her, show her your account (show her your pictures, tell her who's following you and who you're following, and your privacy settings) so she knows that you're being safe and feels comfortable with you using the app.
Don't hide your account from your mom, it will only make her suspicious of you.
