Is social class dead? Arguments? Theorists? Examples?
Right I was wondering, whether social class was dead?
- I know there is arguments to say that it is, and arguments to say that it isn't. But I was wondering whether people could post what these arguments are, they can be brief I just sorta would like to know the basic argument, theorist names and examples. Obviously the more you can provide, the more likely I will choose it as top answer but anyways.. Hope someone out there can help me, I'm really stuck xx Ads |

The class system exists in marketing and social census information and most importantly in political campaigning.
The self perpetuating class system that means everyone knows their place and all conspire together to dissuade people from acting outside their class is definitely in decline. In America (which influences the whole western world) class has been superseded by financial wealth and celebrity. Social mobility is seen almost as a constitutional right...we find these truths to be self evident...that all men are created equal...Of course that didn't end slavery straight away nor the racial discrimination until very recently in historical terms....let alone the fact that it says 'men'.
