Is it weird to ask a girl to hook you up with her friend?

I'm a sophomore in high school and I have little experience in relationships, but I've been told I'm attractive by several girls. A friend of mine that I went to school with last year has switched schools and has posted several pictures on Instagram of herself and a girl she goes to school with, and I looked at this girl's own Instagram account and she's very pretty, and from what I can tell from her activity, nice. Would it be weird to ask my friend if her friend (the pretty one) is single and if she might be interested in me? How would be the best way to ask?
The girl I want my friend to introduce me to/hook up me up with is definitely more attractive than her. The only other slight complication is that I used to have a crush on my friend and she knew but didn't feel the same way, but we became pretty good friends although we barely see each other and I have no interest in her now.

If you're good friends with the girl you know, then no, it is not weird. My guy friends always get us to hook them up with girls since we're from an all-girls school. She'll probably love setting you guys up. Ask her to arrange a group outing for lunch or coffee so you guys can hang out.

I doubt she'll actually hook you up with her in all honesty. If you and your friend hang out regularly and are close then go ahead and ask, but if she's just an acquaintance then it will seem awkward. Plus I'm not sure how attractive your friend is but if her friend is prettier than her she's probably sick and tired of guys trying to use her to get to her friend.

As long as your friend doesn't have a crush on you then it's ok to ask her to set you up with her friend but you new to tread carefully like just start out by asking what the pretty girl's name is and tell your friend "oh wow shes really pretty" but like gradually get info about this girl and dont just bluntly ask "shes hot, is she single?" Cuz then your friend would probably give you a bullshit excuse like "yeah but she doesn't want to date right now" so you can try to get your friend to set you up but you just need to put some thought into how j
