PROS

-It doesn't have as many bugs as Myspace, so it runs faster, and your messages are less likely to get lost like on Myspace
-It is one of the best ways to organize and share photos
-It is constantly changing and adding new features
-It allows you to show your "status", so people are kept up to date with what you are doing.
-You can show events that you are attending
-It's easier to find your real friends on Facebook, because the search engine is better
-Facebook isn't cluttered with annoying graphics and advertisements

CONS

-People tend to use social networking sites as a replacement for real human interaction. The more you talk to someone on Facebook, the less likely you are to hang out with them in real life.
-It's harder to find new friends on Facebook. The search is meant to only find people who you are already friends with in real life. You can't do an advanced search for people outside of your networks.
-There are information fields on Facebook that could potentially make it easier for people to stalk you if you aren't careful. These fields include your email, phone number, and address. You can hide these from certain users or not enter them at all, but many people probably enter that info without thinking, making available to anyone on their friends list.

Personally I think facebook embraces the purposes that myspace was meant for. Myspace was designed for networking and keeping up with friends..Instead it has been turned into a site for predators.
Facebook is a tad easier to use once you get on. You stay connected with people in your network meaning people from you school even once you go to college. You can automatically hide your profile and even select info that you want to hide or only make available for your friends. It is easy and simple to use. I prefer it over myspace.
Even though it is open registration you still have to be confirmed by someone that you know in your network. I think is very safe

Facebook is great in general.
Its safe, only people in your school can look at you.
Its really quick and easy to use.
You can put all the pics and videos you want on there.

And hey, the best things in life are free.

Pros:
*Easier to use
*I find it is more personal. People tend to post comments on myspace so OTHER people see them
*Less teenies posting crappy bullitens

Cons
There are less people on it, its pretty much confined to people you already know (which is a good thing too)

CONS: It's not as good as myWdot.com cos you cant do anything on it.
I would just use http://www.mywdot.com instead... you can drag and drop your images, videos, music, youtube videos where you want them on your pages.... tell your friends about it and in about 3 months it will have taken over from myspace as nos 1. Plus you will be able to get a cool username as it is a startup.

I think it's a lot safer than MySpace. There are more security filters and control over who sees your profile. Only people from your networks can access your complete information. It's a great way to reconnect with old acquaintances or stay updated on current friendships.

wouldn't you ask for only pros then? lol. facebook is a rather boring site compared to myspace and stuff therefore its less popular. i would think it would be the safest choice for an online community... thing. it is used as i guess a type of addressbook because it's a lot more... professional than myspace. i think it was actually created for professional purposes.
