I live in Joplin which isn't too far from Kansas City and Tulsa. I was wondering if theirs any emailing lists I can sign up for that will let me know what bands are coming to the area and when.

I would suggest you look up the websites for the radio stations that represent the genres and cities you are interested in. For example, 96.5 The Buzz in Kansas City has their Freeloaders loyalty program, and they update through that on the shows they promote, which is a lot of Alternative and Indie rock.

Check out the Free Press pages in KC and Tulsa also. I didn't see a mailing list on the page for The Pitch (free press in KC), but their Music and Calendar sections have a lot of the info you are looking for - maybe some deep digging may help you out.

The free press pages can also help you find local promotion groups, which may also have their own mailing lists.

Also, expand out from just mailing lists - a lot of these organizations are turning to Twitter and Facebook to keep fans updated.

I live in Tulsa, OK and this last weekend I went to Baker street pub and the jump shots were playing. I really liked that place. You can go to baker street pub.com and they have a list of bands playing for the month. Also, look at Cains ball room because they have a lot of bands playing at that location.
