Why do politicians and famous people prefer Twitter over facebook?
I see that most of the countries presidents, politicians, and celebs use twitter to contact their fans despite that facebook is far more famous than twitter. Is there anything special in twitter ? I haven't used it before.

My guess is that they like the word follow and they like it if people are following them rather than being friends.

On Twitter, people can update their statuses every minute and it would be justified. Twitter's main purpose is for celebrities to reach their fans via social networking, while Facebook's main purpose is for everyday people to connect with others. If people were to post every second on Facebook, others would see it as irritating.
And actually, Twitter is very well-known and has an extremely high user base.
