How can I promote my blog?

I have just started writing a blog, and I would like to get a few people reading it. I have linked it on Facebook, Twitter, etc. If anybody could help by giving me suggestions on how to promote, I'd be really grateful.

Blogs are a very powerful tool in the world of search engines, there are hundreds of thousands of blogs out there and making your blog stand out is to find a niece. Install yourself some sort of analyical code onto your website if you have not already have done which can track where hits are coming from and more importantly, which keywords are used in the search enignes, this will be the biggest referal of hits, the search engines.
With your blog being written for certain key words and you concentrating on these popular, highly searched keywords, you will have a higher chance of getting more visitors to your site.
You have to find the purpose of your blog, mine, which is www (dot) vibrantpulse (dot) com (forwardslash) blog is a collection of my day to day activities for my company, within this, I add tips, tricks for technology and I use it in a very general term. Customers of mine are dominating the search engines for more specific keyword targetting which is where I teach them what I am telling you.
Use your tags well, choose your titles well, organise well in categories and all will help. Careful research of keywords and some trial and error will be needed if this is your first time without any expert help.
The other area is to get backlinks to your blog, link to your blog as much as you can with relevant links. In other words, links from sites simular to yours.
