I am a teenager (16 almost 17).

1. Why can't most teens have a face to face conversation? I went on a date with a friend of mine and my good friend Kristian brought some girl, and throughout the whole night they just texted back and forth. Barely any face to face conversation... at all. I wanted to flip out and then laugh at him like crazy, but i resisted.

2. Most teens today are so rude, disrespectful, and unjust. At this rate there's no respect for women anymore, i mean even they call themselves bitches and ho's, so the guys think it's cool to start saying these things and it just becomes one big clusterfuck of idiocy.

3. There's no free thinking anymore. Everyone's conforming and becoming "one with the crowd," what the fuck!? I mean come on now, they all dress the same, act the same, what's next?

So many more reasons, but i don't feel like typing out a thousand more reasons why most teens are idiots.

1)I blame technology. I'm 19 and I admit that most are my friends are addicted to their tech and that most of my friends and I communicate through text. We're too reliant on technology and it's making teens more reliant on using it as a form of communication in my opinion.
2) I don't consider myself rude and I don't call myself a ho. Some people have self respect and were raised right.
3) Once again, depends on the person. Some people rebel, some go with the flow. Depends on the person

Well, for one it's how society shapes us. Ever hear the saying monkey see, monkey do? Well in the metaphore teens are monkeys and there looking at other monkeys. And then there are hormones and such and brain developments that are weird. And video games and television might have to do with it too.

1) The more technology we use, the more isolated they get in conversations.
2) I don't think it's really just teens, all types of age groups are just plain rude.
3) I have no clue anymore.

Why do I think teens today are... idiots? I don't think all teens are. I think some teens are immature and stupid, but not idiots. I also think there are some teens out there who are more mature for their age.

Technology has overtaken children. Media online sites, phones etc have all led to less social interaction and more typing. Speaking has become less and touch screens and typing has increased. Can you imagine in years to come (near future also) all the new medical conditions they are going to see from the constant typing, swiping etc. Young kids are introduced to technology, I think we will see a rapid decrease in speech, language, spelling etc. I was at my 4yr old preschool first day and there was maybe a 2yr old that was on "mums" phone, swiping away at games. Her mum laughed and said she actually swiped a real book the other day, didn't go to turn the page. I didn't find this amusing, a 2yr that thought she had to swipe an actual book to turn a page is not funny.
Facebook/twitter etc where they have "friends" and feel popular but know barely anyone. They would rather complain about being bored than go outside and find something to do. They hop on the computer to ask friends about their day or to update a status. What ever happened with hanging out with friends in person?

Texting as it's purpose. It's not there to be taken advantage of like it is. It was a great idea and in theory it is great. I love sending a quick text instead of wasting time ringing someone. Especially if i'm rushing around and i'm late. It's easier to type, sorry, i'm running 10 mins late than it is to find the number, ring, wait for them to answer and then tell them. Get caught up talking and end up 30 mins late haha.

I do not agree that most teens are rude, disrespectful and unjust. I agree that some teens are exactly that. But not most. I see/meet many teens who are quite polite, considerate and very nice. Sure, some teens have no respect and have no manners etc. But honestly, if they are with friends, of course they are going to act "cool" and have a high opinion of themselves. We all act different when we have some confidence around friends.

Free thinking has decreased. People are criticised, bullied, attacked for having independent thoughts. If someone doesn't want to conform and want to be themselves, their life is hell. They are unable to express themselves without being the centre of harassment. Some people are strong enough to do this and I think it's great they can, but some would rather just conform as they cannot handle negativity that comes from being different. I think it is horrible that a person must conform and not be themselves, they are not being true to themselves and it's only themselves they are crushing/holding back.

Teens are only trying to find themselves, learning and experimenting. It depends on how they were raised to how they act/react. Even adults are not the best people when in groups. You only have to get the adrenalin going and adults can be worse than teenagers. Teens brains are still maturing, still trying to work properly and to work together to give a more mature thought pattern. Hormones etc.
None of it is an excuse, as many teens are actually lovely.

You cannot expect manners, respect etc from a teen who has never been taught to give it from parents. If parents have no had the interest in their children, have not raised them with basic manners or respect, then the children will be rude, disrespectful and unjust. It's not always the teens at fault. They will learn the hard way from their upbringing and will have to learn new ways as they age/mature.

I'm double your age, have seen many disrespectful teens and have experienced rude, disrespectful, spiteful teen behaviour, but still, you cannot say most teens are idiots. It's only the teens you see out and about that you believe to be idiots, not the decent teens who are at home, at friends, even at work etc.
