Is anyone else sick of social media?
Before I begin I must admit I do have a Facebook account. However I wouldn't say I'm addicted to using it, I rarely post statuses and rarely 'comment'. What is really starting to get to me is the dominance that social media now has on most people's daily lives. Whenever I'm in a social situation with friends such as being at the pub they are constantly on their phones sending tweets or that ridiculous snapchat (which I see no point whatsoever in having) which I find extremely annoying and downright rude. I can't even watch a television programme without being reminded through adverts or the show itself to 'follow' the brand or show or whatever. I'm all for moving forward with technology etc. but social media seems to me like a cancer, its slowly eating away at society and leaving a generation incapable of understanding typical social conventions (e.g. keeping eye contact when someone is talking to you). Surely there's many of you out there who agree?

Agreed! I could do without it, miss the days of calling NOT TEXTING. When people text me, I will call them and they so often don't answer. They ask me why I didn't just text back? Because it would take me ten minutes to go back and forth with you on this one simple question/suggestion through texts, when I could so easily get the info across in one minute of talking. And fb has it's moments, but I too the going out with people who spend all their time on the phone. One cool idea that my husband did once was, we all put our phones in the middle of the table. First one to reach for their phone buys us all shots. It deteriorated after the first person, but i was like, SERIOUSLY? We couldn't go two hours without you touching your Gd phone!!? Sorry for the rant. I agree.

I couldn't agree more with you on this one. Everyone is constantly taking photographs to "show off" in stead of enjoying the moment. This reminds me of a concert of Beyoncé, someone was filming her with the mobile phone and she told him to seize the moment and put the camera down

I think nothing can replace real "face to face" contact and that people nowadays aren't fully involved during a conversation because they are constantly on their phone. It's a bit sad..

It's a good thing that we have the technology to be able communicate, and to keep in touch, whereas without that technology, there would be no way for us to do so.

But, yes, I am sick of it, because the people on the social medial make it a point to be as mean as they possibly can. Social media was meant to simply be a means of communication, when otherwise, you would not be able to communicate. But, people turned social media into a punching bag, instead.
