Are there any profile trackers on facebook?
I keep getting mixed answers, some people say that there are but won't show me and others say there isn't because it violates Facebook's privacy agreement.

All of my friends who have fb keep telling me they don't know of such a thing... But I think they are lying to keep it a secret because they are selfish. I wanna know because I sometimes browse people's profiles from my school. So is there one?

By profile trackers do you mean a log of who visited your profile?

I do not think there are any profile trackers. If you view your friends' profiles, they do not know that you viewed their profile. As you said, it violates Facebook's privacy agreement. If you browse people's profile from your school, nobody will know. But if someone sees you online, or if you do something (write on walls, comment on photos, play applications, change status) and it registers on your mini-feed, then people will know that you were online at that point in time. Apart from that nobody will know whose profiles you were viewing.

(But I've had run-ins with teachers who caught me using Facebook during school hours because they also use Facebook and saw that I was online at that time. My bad.) So as long as you do not change anything, and just view stuff, I guess it cannot be detected.

There aren't any applications that can log every visitor to your profile page. As you already stated, that is a violation of Facebook's privacy agreement.

However, there are some applications that have limited logging capabilities. I used to have one called Trakzor. It allowed me to see who was visiting my profile- but it would only work if those visitors were 1) my friends and 2) had also added the Trakzor application. Trakzor is able to do this since you and your friends give consent for the app to access your personal information. But since it only logs people that are your friends AND have also added the app, it's generally not that effective at creating a comprehensive log- especially considering that very few people use apps like that.
