Which gender is most discriminated against?
I got an e-mail saying the men were more discriminated against than women and I didn't want to debate it in there - this question is too big for an e-mail exchange.

Please provide evidence and support for your cases. Thank you.

The third gender. I've heard those guys exist but I've never meet one of them. I think their being repressed somewhere. I bet the matriarchy married the patriarchy and they are ruling us now. When the prince childiarchy takes his/her throne it will be worst. But then the third gender will come and rescue us from the Dragon and his Elves.

Or something like that. Smile

Does the MRA and the NAACP get discounts at IHOP since they all use acronyms?

Men, obviously.

Social/Legal discrimination that men have to face, that makes their life tougher :

1) Harsher punishments for the same crime.
2) Unfair family courts - not getting custody for the child.
3) Male victims of DV not taken seriously.
4) Male victims of rape not taken seriously.
5) No special laws like VAWA to protect men, even though men are the majority of victims of violent crime.
6) For the same crime, irrespective of the gender of the offender - perpetrator gets more punishment if the victim is female rather than male. This shows the life of men is valued less than women.
7) Men can be conscripted into the army anytime. They cannot even vote without enrolling for the draft.
8) Violence against men by women is socially acceptable, celebrated in the media. Reverse is not true.
9) No/Very few shelters for male victims of DV.
10) No reservations for men in jobs, colleges, etc.. (Affirmative action for women)
11) Men stereotyped by society as being violent, abusers, etc.
12) Young men have to pay higher car/road insurance.
13) Young men in Singapore have to compulsorily serve 2 years in the army on turning 18.
14) Male infant circumcision/genital mutilation is legal and performed widely and even completely socially accepted.
15) Males enrolled in are often given tougher, more dangerous tasks to perform than women in the same post (in a job)
16) Males are expected to carry heavy things for women, give up their seats for women, shovel snow, mow gardens and do any other job involving back-breaking manual labor, that women do not wish to perform.
17) Males are expected to not show emotion and remain stoic, under any circumstance.
18) Males who complain about being objectified are shamed as being “mentally fragile” or their sexuality is questioned.
19) In the army, or any other position men have to meet much higher physical standards than women (disproportionately higher number of push ups, pull ups, etc..)
20) Many countries do not even recognize female on male rape. It can maximally only amount to “sexual assault”
21) Male children are often given harsher punishments by teachers for the same level of mischief as girls.
22) Men are expected to ask women out, pay for dates, decide on the venue – basically it’s the man’s job to impress the woman, and not vice versa.
23) Men have no reproductive choices. The only choice men have is to use a condom (which can fail upto 3-5% of the times) or not have intercourse. Whereas women in addition to a host of contraceptives, also have the choice of abortion.
24) Men’s lives are given less value in any situation. In any emergency, always women are rescued first.
25) When a man slaps a woman, he is an abuser and a monster, When a woman slaps a man, “he must have done something to annoy her”
26) Victim blaming is acceptable ONLY when men are the victims and women the perpetrator.
27) When a man breaks up with a woman, he is called a “jerk”. When a woman dumps a man, “he must have failed her somehow”
28) Males do not have the privilege of showing affection to each other in public, people start questioning their sexuality. This doesn’t apply to women.
29) Women have the choice of being a stay at home mum or going out to work. Men don't have that choice - that HAVE to be the provider!!

Both are equally discriminated but the circumstances are different.
for eg: A women may not be allowed to fight in a war despite her ability and credentials.
or.
a man may not escape from divorce settlements even if the divorce is mutually agreed upon.

The discrimination does, and does not specifically have to do with gender. It is one of the many ways it is played upon, by those that gain from it, and not wanting to lose their stronghold. The main ways of doing so has been in the form of politic's, religion, and with regard to gender (sex). Messing with our freedom, and love, as a result. The bad ones hound at good people and things, because they want to 'own it'. By whatever bad way, or good way they think they can use. They don't stay true to their good nature ways, so don't think they will stay true to you either when you know it. Make them prove it, and remain consistent with it..right on?! Or else, find something else to do that they are significantly good at, and get inline with what is good for all.

I think that in the west people are discriminated more based on social class and financial status than based on gender. There is also still a lot of discrimination against disabled, mentally ill, ethnic minorities and gay/trans people. People treat and address men and women slightly differently but that is to be expected because we do have evident differences. People discriminated against here might get teased and struggle socially and be judged more harshly.

In most conservative religious societies most certainly women are blamed for everything and women and children have a really tough time unless they are lucky enough to have a kind, decent man in charge.

World-wide it is probably women. But there is plenty of injustice and Socialismâ„¢ enough to hurt everyone.

People of all genders are discriminated against. Why does it matter to you which, on average, is the most discriminated against? Individuals will have individual experience with gender.

In some countries, women can be sent to jail for being raped. In others, men can lose access to their kids if their marriage ends. Pretty much every country treats people who are not cisgendered in a pretty shitty way; people are forced to say whether you are male or female when they are neither, abused by random strangers for being "different", mistreated by their loved ones who may mean well but don't always know best.

All of those things are traumatising. Of course, not everyone of that gender will experience the worst things which can happen to them. Not every woman has been rapped, not every man has had his kids taken away from him, not every noncisgendered person lives in a society with paperwork and people. (I have no evidence to support that last one because it would be really hard to research.)

As a human with empathy, I am upset when anyone gets hurt. I don't, however, suddenly need therapy because someone of the same gender as me was the victim of a gender based hate crime. I do not feel any more discriminated against because of it; that would be ridiculous.

I get that you want a case for or against particular genders, but I am unwilling to say that any gender is the "most" discriminated against.
