What are some cost effective ways to market my business online?

I have a jewelry business and wanna promote it online..specially through FACEBOOK with online companies or people. What are some other ideas of how to get my brand and product in front of more people on the internet in a cost effective manner? I was considering networking - your thoughts? Thank you in advance!

Well my first rule is to be professional you must look and act professional. Don't I mean ever become a SPAMMER it is very annoying and will definitely get you noticed so people will not deal with you. To market through Facebook you have to connect with people of common interest perhaps women and people of certain status such as if you are selling engagement rings maybe you want to market toward couples who aren't married. You can post photos of you jewelry on your Facebook and even leave status updates on deals.

Promoting a site through Facebook isn't a good business model, instead you need to make sure your website has proper coding for SEO (Search Engine Optimization), so that if someone searches for jewelry your site will feature on the first page of the search engine.

To make a successful site, you also need good quality incoming links, try linking to suppliers or other jewelry sites, you'll need to contact their webmasters/owners for this.

Also use advertising sites to post free links to your site, e.g. for sale pages of classified ads

If you have the time to write articles, in other peoples blogs/forums, always post a link to your site in your signature. Selling stuff on eBay should also give you some opportunities.

Good question! Here are a few things that you can do to market your jewelry business on Facebook, and so on. When in facebook you may open up a Fan Page, and that allows you to post videos of your jewelry product or business demonstration, keep full updates about what kind of stuff you've there, make a business name for that page, etc. It is more professional than just having your personal page be where you market from. People then become your "fans", and you can even get people to go to that page by requesting them to review at it.
Facebook is my favorite social network to market on. It is quick, easy to send out post, can easily find people that share your interest etc. My company just started using Facebook a few months ago and have got more than 2000 followers . The key is to keep in contact daily, show that you are there for your followers, send out good info, etc. Send out tweets about your business, personal info, fun stuff, coupon codes, anything that is of regarding your business ! Well I am not sure if you are in favor of it or against it, but outsourcing the operations of online promotions can cut your costs to a great extent. Facebook is a good idea of promotion, once you get enough of fans, but to get more fans, you need to create awareness about your website and for that, other methods like article submissions, link building, blogging etc. need to be used.

One good way is to join forums, where you can exchange information and promote your site as well. Another one is to setup a blog, which allows you to generate good traffic specially if your niche is interesting. Posting videos in video sharing sites is another one. The good thing about all of this tips is that you spend little, if not none at all! Just give it the efforts and you'll start seeing results.
