Someone Tweeted from my Twitter Account on my stolen Macbook?
I noticed someone tweeted on January 17th 2013 from my twitter account. He put his name and his school name and the city (Kathmandu, Nepal).

I found him on Facebook, noted his last name and saw his pictures.

I went there and from the background in the pictures could locate his house. With the help of police we raided his house. He was a 12 years boy who told that he used to go to a cyber cafe on the first floor of his house. That had since been closed down.

By chance he was a friend with him on Facebook. Now we got the phone number of that cyber owner. He is under investigative custody.

The police are asking me to bring the IP address of the tweet of 17.1.2013.

Can I find the IP address of a past tweet?

Can Cyber Police in India help me with this record?

Can I myself go to my Twitter account and find the IP address of the old tweet?

Any advice and help will greatly be appreciated. Thank you!

That information isn't available via the API, nor should it be, as it would be a major issue of privacy that I'm sure Twitter wouldn't want to open up without explicit permission from the users. I would contact Twitter directly or ask the police to help get that address.

However location is possible using the new geo features. It's opt in and it requires the user use client that supports sending location data, but the accuracy is far greater then any kind of geo-ip lookup could offer.
