Facebook friends help? hacked?

So I go on my Facebook often. I checked my friends list and it was 1149. The time I checked it was around 3 days ago. Now that I just went on it said 1252. I was thinking to myself jdldgwofjeif. I have no clue what happened! I didn't friend request anyone and all of a sudden I got 100 extra friends in like 2-3 days! I checked my security in the accounts tab and everything is set to maximum protection like it use to be, I did this like 4 months ago. So if someone tried to get in my Facebook account, a text would be sent to my phone. And I didn't get any so I'm not sure if this was a hack to my friends. But I have no clue what it is and can someone please explain to me what is going on! Thank you so much!

Two possibilities:
1. You may have REQUESTED to friend a bunch of people, and in the time you were logged off, they approved your request.
2. You're never really informed that you've been hacked, though the red flag is usually something like every person on your friends list being send some weird wall post with a link that'll give them a virus.

So, check that second thing didn't happen, and check your friendslist to make sure you recognize all the names, and if not, then remove the ones you don't and change your password.

Yeah! The same thing happened to me! My friend list increased by about 30 from out of nowhere! I checked my other friends' friend lists, and their numbers jumped up anywhere from 20 to 50 people. I think what is happening is facebook is including (in your friend's list) accounts that have been deactivated. It didn't used to do that, so it must be some kind of glitch. I went through my friend list and counted all the people that have deactivated their accounts (because facebook has always let you see them there) and I had about 30ish. So yeah! I think that is what is happening!
