Mom's website needs traffic?
I've built a website for my mom's knitting business. She does supplies and sells quilts, hats, etc. The site is good. A great menu with lots of bells and whistles. What I need to do now is get her some traffic. I think she will have kittens when she sees the traffic comes in. Any tips on how to do traffic right?

If you have created a website, then SEO is not a big task for you (Search Engine Optimization).
I like your motivation and the purpose...Good luck

There are number of things as part of solution:

1. Use SEO to increase visibility of your mom's website in search results
2. Use viral marketing through social networks such as FB, Youtube etc
3. Use pay-per-click marketing to increase preference of pages
4. Advertise in non-internet related media e.g. cheap mags etc..
5. Lastly, enhance bounce-rate by improving website for users who do come

Getting traffic may be a bigger challenge than creating the site, don't be sure that your original design is anywhere optimal for converting visitors to buyers, may eCommerce sites make 1 sale for every 50 - 200 visitors. Aside from implementing a long term SEO campaign, including spreading her footprint to several free social site pages, including Facebook and Pinterest. Consider testing marketplaces with ready made traffic, like Etsy.com, which charges 20 cents per listing + 6% of sales.

Here's a Search Engine Optimization primer by an SEO authority, too much of the stuff taught by others is out of date or simply inaccurate.
