20 year old looking for apprenticeship or experiance in creative industry...PLEASE HELP!!!!?
I am 20 years old. I currently live in North London and I have finished a three year BTEC Art and Design National Diploma course. I would like to go to University part time but do not feel that it is financially viable for me at this time. I am therefore looking for an Apprenticeship, ideally in sequential art or graphic design as that is the career path that I want to follow.I am also looking to get some experience in the 2 fields and I'm willing to work minimum wage if it means I gain experience. I've also looked into storyboard assistant jobs

I understand that it is an extremely difficult industry to get into but I have a real passion for it having grown up reading Marvel and DC Comics as well as having strong 2D drawing skills learning to draw from the greats such as Jim Lee, Ed McGuinness , John Buscema and David Finch. I also have a deviant art account and instagram account (TevinDHenley) if you would like to some of my other artwork. If you would like to see the artwork feel free to email me. So if anyone can help me with an apprenticeship, internship, work experience or even Volunteering please let me know

Just an idea.Unemployment being so bad.Consider teaming up with others like yourself, inputting each of your strengths together to form a self funded business. You would probably need to start on low income but working as a group could give better options for variation in clientele.Like a "rock band"getting together producing an album and taking off from there.Give yourselves a name/logo and build on this.It is difficult out there currently and old methods aren't suitable today.

If you're looking for other people to find you a job, this isn't the place (nor is there any place for that, unless you go to an agency). Also, advertising yourself here is an abuse of the forums. It sounds like you have media accounts but no real portfolio, and that's your first pitfall. Your portfolio is going to speak for you louder than anything else, even a degree (though that's the close second attribute to getting you a job). Put together a portfolio, both physical and online (but professional, a host website like DA or Instagram is far from professional), and learn about freelancing. Read up on how to freelance, where to apply (sites like elance.com for instance) what your rates should be, how to draw up a contract, how to protect your work, etc. and then get to it.
