hiding notifications on facebook?

i don't mean the email notifications, like the stuff on the side.
here, i have a handy dandy picture for you:

i dont want that circled stuff on there.
when i lick the "x" next to ity, nothing happens.
and i have so many junk notifications i cant see the ones i want to see.

You can't edit the notifications send by facebook when someone comment on your post / status / tagged photos of etc. etc. But you can control the notifications send by other applications. For this go to this link: http://www.facebook.com/editapps.php?v=feed

It will show you the applications you have allowed to send notifications. Remove the applications you don't wanna see in your notifications and you're done :-)
