Viewing Facebook profiles?
I want to see my kids' Facebook profiles. I created an account but can't see anything. What can I do? I found them but can't see their pages --- does that mean they marked their accounts so that only people in their network can see? Is there any way for me to see their profiles? Thanks!!

they hasve to add you as a friend in order for you/them to see yours. kindof like how myspace works. i would use a fake name or something and use a diff pic and add them then wait for them to add you,...
better yet just ask them to see and you can tell them what you think about it. dont try sneaking around cuz they might find out.

you need to ask to be their friend...so if that, they will know you are spying on them.

The reason you cannot see their profiles may be due to a few reasons. First of all, the way facebook works is that the only profiles you can see are those that are in your network. Facebook was originally based on college e-mail addresses, so only those from the same college could see each other's profiles without actually being friends. If two users are not in the same network (which have now expanded to include high schools, cities all over the world, big companies and other work places) and are not friends, there's no way they can see each other's profiles. So if the account you made (which I'm assuming is based on a city or workplace) is in a different network from your kids (which I imagine is on a college network), you won't be able to see their profiles. If they are in city networks and you are in the same network but you can still not see their profile, then it means that they have set their profile to private and ONLY their friends can see their profile.

You can't see their profiles because you have to have them added as a friend, or be in their network.

Facebook is forbidden by federal and many state laws to give unauthorized access to someone who is not an account holder. If you are a parent or school official, we encourage you to exercise any discretion you can on your own computers in overseeing your child's Internet access. Please do a search for computer-based Internet control technology on your preferred search engine to discover options that you may wish to pursue.

That means your kid has set up the settigs for security on his profile, he could of put to view only friends or and his network. You really can't see his profile only if you ad him as a friend and he accepts you.
