It used my email address in the email saying Your account name is----balabala@hotmail.com

I clicked on the link stupidly and AVG blocked it and said phishing site.....I clicked proceed anyway by mistake and i quickly pressed the back button realising what i had done? I didnt enter any details at all. Is it possible i could have a virus now?

To be honest very much doubt if you got anything from it just doing that.

I have had a couple of those in the past from other sites. Seeing that I never made the account in the first place I just delete them.

They are trying to ascertain whether it is an active email address by you clicking on the verification return link then they can bombard you with spam and all the other email crap!

No, you did not get malware THIS TIME.

You broke the most important rule concerning email.
NEVER open an email that you do not at least know the sender.
Never click on a link in an email unless you are 100% sure where
the link is taking you.

Don't click on ANYTHING in their email. Don't responde.

Contact the FTC and report the attempt.

Phishing site's dont infect computer's.. They Simply Try to Trick you..

Into Entering Details you Should not Disclose such as bank Details, Passwords Ect.

So Even Visiting the Site You Should be ok as long as you Dont Enter Any Details.

Hope it helps Smile
