Should I direct message her on twitter?

There is this girl in my forensics class that I like. I would talk to her in class but the teacher is a hard ass and we are not allowed to talk, and our assigned seats are across the room. Out side of school we've run into each other and she always smiles real big at me, but we always see each other while one of us is working ( one of my coworkers said she stood around so she could wave goodbye ) I don't have her number, but we've commented on each other's Instagram pics ( in a flirty manner). Would it be ok for me to ask for her number on twitter? Or start a direct message conversation on twitter leading up to me asking for her number?

I would recommend you to start a conversation first before you ask her for her number. For some girls, it would seem creepy if you asked her outright. Preferably, you should maybe flirt with her or coax her SUBTLY into giving her number. Or you could lead the conversation towards something that leads you to exchanging your numbers. OR you could just get her number from someone and initialize the texting
