I'm an american looking for a nanny job in Dubai. Any suggestions as to where I might find one?
I'm living in CA right now. I've found a few websites that I've posted this info. Hello!
My name is Alexandria. I am 21 years old and I currently work full-time as a live-in nanny in California, USA. I love my job and where I live, but I'm ready for a change after living in the same place for my whole life! I have the amazing opportunity to move to Dubai with my friends who just moved there in January. I am looking to find a job in Dubai as a nanny/domestic helper starting in August. I'm even willing to just take up some occasional babysitting jobs (or anything, really!) . I have several years experience working with children in different environments ranging from casual daycare, babysitting and nannying, to structured preschool and tutoring environments. I've nannied for children ages 3 months to 8 years old. I have also tutored and mentored teenagers. I’ve got a background in Early Childhood Education as well. I have a great resume (or CV) and references to vouch for my extensive experience working with children.
I consider myself reliable, patient, loving, energetic and FUN! I consider myself a career childcare provider, and every job and every child I come across is important to me. You can take a look at my childcare page on Facebook on the link below. My resume is posted in the notes section on my profile. http://www.facebook.com/childcarebyalex.
I am hoping to find a family that can sponsor a visa for me as well, but if that is not a possibility, I will work around that. :] I am aware that as an American, I’m not technically allowed to work as a maid/nanny, so I would need to be hired with a different job title(maybe governess?).
Thanks so much for looking at my post. I look forward to hearing from you!
-Alex(andria)

just looking to see if anyone knows of any good sites!

I don't think UAE immigration will approve a "governess" job title because frankly this is not the UK and most people here don't know what you mean by it. If some employer wants to hire you they can find a way around that. But perhaps you can work as a KG teacher considering your resume.

I agree with the answer giving by ".". Job title "governess" is unknown in the UAE. You would mostly be hired on a "receptionist" visa but no private expat will be able you sponsor a receptionist.

You should follow the giving advice and apply for a position in a nursery. If hired, maybe one day something comes around through new contacts or mouth to mouth information. For nurseries in the UAE please find a list providing contacts below:

I am in a similar position. i have replied to several adds for maids / servants in UAE countries. I have since concluded that it is ipossible for a westerner to get a domestic position anywhere in this regin. I even had a very nice lady (who wanted to employ me as her maid) inquire with the relevant authorities , but she was not allowed to sponser me.
