Does anyone else feel the way I do about modern society and culture..?
I can't stand popular music, it irritates me, mainly hip/hop and rap. I find it egregious pomp. I think that many younger people are rude, imbecilic, immature, uneducated, inarticulate and disrespectful towards the things they don't understand because of bad parenting. I think that our dependence on technology is going to be our undoing, why all this blind devotion to cell phones and social networks? Whatever happened to face to face conversations? I think we are so caught up in defining ourselves by how much money we have and what we have over others that we are breeding contempt and creating monsters in our offspring. The cynicism, the intolerance, the religious fervor, the mis-information....it is all so tiring and I feel we all may not be here for much longer if, as a species, we carry on this way...
Am I the only one who feels this way, if so I'll shut up and go back to my cave but...if not, I want to hear from you...

*standing ovation*

Born in the 80's, and I believe its the last generation that has some self respect. The ones after it? downhill.

btw, the "90's baby" answer so proved your point eh? lol

Things change. If you don't change with it than of course you are going to be annoyed. Get with the program (new generation) or stay annoyed (old generation). I'm a 90s baby and proud of it. Hip Hop was good in the 90s, now it kind of does suck. I listen to mostly R&B now. If you are 200,000,000,000 miles away how I am going to have a face to face conversation with you? Technology is the best that ever happen. Are you a cave man because it sounds like you rather rub rocks together to start a fire rather than light a match in the fire place. Rude? Yea, to people who are use to sugar coating things and accepting things just the way they are even when it's wrong. I like the fact the the new generation don't go along with traditional religions. You are not going to be here much longer if you were born in the 50s, 60s, or half of 70s because you're about 1, 000 yrs old. The problem with the old generation is that they are so stuck in traditional ways that they are closed minded to something new or change. The old generation wasn't all that good either. You old generation people are the cause of the new one, so it's kind of silly to complain about it.

I forgot how most of the old generation of people teaches the new generation (their children) how to be racist. Due to the new generation, racism is dying out a little, but I think it still will remain just a bit.

Mystic: And you proved mine. You're not going to be on this earth long "80s baby'', so shut your lips.

{Thumbs down, but its mine opinion}

*puts box next to feet* Stand up there buddy I want to hear more. Yeah, I agree with you. People are very cynical and selfish these days. I blame the media. People actually believe what they see on tv is real. Young people these days remind me of the discarded empty husks of locusts. If these same kids are going to be running society in a few years....God help us All.

Well, if you are accepting reservations, I'll join you. My parents thought that my generation was headed for hell in a handbasket. My children's generation thought that their chilldren were headed in the same direction. My granddaughter's is also on the same slippery slope. Perhaps it's a generational thing. Yet, I see signs in my children and grandchildren that give me hope. The cessation of the draft gave rise to an all volunteer force that makes the veterans on my generation proud. I don't dispair at all.

YES. I completely agree with you and have been noticing for some time how bad and screwed up everything is. Now you can't even listen to the radio without having to change the dial every couple minutes because the new music sucks so bad. Every singer sounds the same and most of the crappy hip hop has the same high-pitched voice changer garbage in it. They stole that from Zapp & Roger who made it popular 30 years ago and abused the heck out of it. Mainstream music sucks and has all the same beats and breathless voice singing style. How can people listen to that garbage? ugh!

Yep kids and young adults are disrespectful jerks who disrespect, cuss at and hit their parents and disrespect their elders by telling them their generation sucked and telling them that they are 'old'. Young people think their generation is much better than other people's...yeah right. This generations is one HUGE copycat of everything from the past few decades and all have been mixed together and combined for this generation. Let's see...I see young people wearing their granparent's eyeglasses (black-framed eyeglasses and cat-eye glasses from the 50's & 60's. I see them driving Chevy Camaros and Ford Mustangs with some or most of the old classic 60's styiling. I see girs with side-swept bangs (a 60's hairstyle) and the long hair parted in the middle with a fancy feathered look (70's Farrah look) skinny jeans (early 80's punk fashion) curly greasy shaggy hair and afros (70's hair) etc., etc. These young people are damn hypocrites.

Social networks suck and are a waste of time. People spend all their valuable hours, mornings, days and nights on these stupid websites updating their account statuses, checking their messages, playing video games, looking at other people's profiles, and adding people they barely talk to, never talked to or don't talk to anymore just to make their friends list bigger. The friendships on there aren't for real and are B.S. I doubt these people hang out with, e-mail or visit these people on their friends list on a regular basis. Everybody along with their grandmothers, dogs, cats, and the cockroaches from their closets are on sites like Facebook and Twitter. Every single business & store is on them also. It's stupid to post your pictures, pictures of your kids, home videos, and personal information on all these sites for the world to see. It don't matter if it's just a picture of your face the whole world and the goverment can see it. Hackers and the goverment have the right and can take that along with everything else and use that information with the pictures/videos. People share way too much pictures, videos and information about themselves on the internet. Another stupid thing people do is tell the world where they are going and where they are going to be at at the moment (Twitter). Do they need their friends, family and the world to know that they are on the toilet with the runs? That they are bathing?

Cell phones UGH! the most annoying piece of poop out there. They are like belly buttons EVERYBODY has them. You can't go anywhere without seeing some idiot walking around blabbing on the phone about something unimportant. People use them as walkie talkies and spy cameras. Morons are always standing around holding out their cell phones in front of their faces filming something. I wish these stupid things would be outlawed but i doubt that would happen because people will start crying loudly like babies having their toy taken out of their hand and I bet some people would commit suicide because they can't live without their cell phones... If their cell phones go they go. People act like they have to be connected to everybody they know at all times and have their damn phones on them all the time. People would rather give up their peace, privacy, and their vacation time for these stupid things.

Nowadays you have to be like everybody else, dress like everybody else, talk like a valley girl like everybody else, have a Facebook, Twitter, cell phone, and same interests as everybody else or you're considered 'uncool' and an outcast in society. But who cares? I don't care and neither should you care of what people call you or consider you for not following the sheep crowd. We are surrounded by sheep who follow the crowd and don't even think for themselves. They don't care that their planet is suffering with pollution, overpopulation, etc.
