Would you search for your teen if they ran away from home? Why would you? Opinions would be awesome! ?

Im a 18 year old female in high school and constantly hear about teens running away a lot. For example school has only been in season and I've already heard of two girls running away. Some last like a week while others months. 

I honestly feel bad because alot of the kids parents SERIOUSLY push to find there child. For example when one girl ran away from home her mom made a Facebook page begging people for help and got over a thousand peoples support. Then come to find out she only did it over a argument with her mom and went on a road trip with her friend. 

Then when she came back to school didn't care and acted like it was a joke! It pissed me off so badly. An I hear sooooo much of the same  thing. 

I guess I must be mean but my honest thought is; if they want to be grown LET THEM. Parents spend so much time trying to hunt there child down when frankly they DON'T CARE! 

Don't get me wrong, I understand the parent must report it to the police but the police don't even take it too seriously anymore. Unless the teen is like under 13 they do not actively search for the child. It's basically a waiting game of them getting into trouble. 

Again like I said I can see if it's a younger child but if the person is 16 or 17 they are almost grown. If they think they are grown let them think that and fall on their face. More than likely they will come back. 

Sorry I know I have a strong opinion on this subject but I honestly want a adults perspective. 

Why do parents do so much to force there teen home? Would you go through all the same thing again if they just came home and left? Why?

obviously, i would look for my son or daughter, who wouldn't? no matter what they done they are your child and you have to be there for them to help them, protect them and love them. i would look for my child and i wouldn't give up until i find them, especially since it's hard for a teen to make it on their own and the world is a dangerous place

I think because parents are worried about this subject.. they love their children, I understand it!
Parents are worried, they go to the police, they search everywhere their children but it's a game for teen, who is stronger? teen or parents? it depends.
Obviously I would search for my children, they are always my children.. I'd be looking forward to wait their call or their messages or whatever.. I think I would be worried because I don't know where they are, I don't know who is with them, I don't know if they are in a dangerous place or somewhere..
I'd do everything for them, everything..searching, going to police, calling them, asking people.. who wouldn't?

i suppose you never know if they are just a stupid teen girl running away from home because they had an argument with her mum then it's understandable that she shouldn't have all the time and resources wasted on her. BUT if no one knew whether the same 16 year old girl had been kidnapped or murdered then i would do the same thing her mum did.
