Why does my STUPID "smart"phone not allow me to get internet connection?

My phone says "Web page not avaliable" over and over again whenever I try to log into ANYTHING. Twitter, Android market, the internet or anything at all. None of the apps work either. The internet won't connect and I'm so frustrated. I just bought this phone (its the HTC Vivid from at&t) last night, and it will not work at all. I called the company and they told me to come in tomorrow morning, but I want my phone to work tonight since I bought it yesterday.
My wifi is on full bars, and my laptop is super fast, but my phone isn't. Its 4G too. I want to download apps tonight that I can use because I'm going on a trip.

Reset the phone, like turn it off then on, and then try

If you haven't had any of your personal data yet then do this:

Press the MENU key, then tap Settings.
Flick the screen UP, then tap SD & phone storage.
Flick the screen UP, then tap Factory data reset.
Tap Reset phone, then tap Erase everything.
This will reset your phone.
When your phone is finished resetting, press and drag the ring at the bottom of the screen UP.
You will be directed to the On device set up wizard.
Done!
