I've lost my faith as an artist, what do i do?
It's been 4 years since graduation, and 2 years When I've really gotten into it.
I love Drawing and painting.

Now for awhile, I've gotten to a point where I don't want to do it,
because I can't learn enough and I feel useless creating artwork.
Landscapes mostly.
As well as I am not good enough to make people happy or become really good.

I've become a social disaster because I spent so much time doing something I love. Which includes loosing my friends.

I've been told, art is one of the most worthless degrees here in the us. So, I dunno about that.
But I've just been giving up. I don't know what to do anymore. What should I do?

Oh, I guess u are in a middle point of bottleneck, I like art and drawing and coloring by coloring pen for hobby not for job. But I admire you be able to become an artist that you need a lot of time and money to invest in your future. The question is why you do not like it. But I can tell you got stress deride from contacting with people rather the problem on your favorite things. Well, people are just like those many colors of pastes in your hands.
You got your style of drawing and painting; you know how to use your favorite color of pastes rather those one lying in a corner for a long long time rarely use.
The world is like circus, you do not cater the others to change yourself. Once if you really have friends, they will understand you rather keeping criticize you this or that no good or bad. Why bother those flies whom you dislike or feel annoy. Leave them a lone and be yourself. Me,too got tons of inigorants relatives in family in law. That is the hardest time to deal with them from mother, sis and brother in law. Well, I choose ignoring them instead of caring about any single words toward to me. They are just in law, so what? they are not saints, so am I .... why should i bother what they said those nonsense words to feel bad. Life is pretty long and got to be beautiful like a nice paintings. Those dark sides of painting, you have painted but you know you got to finish it cuz they make those bright sides of scenes much more vividly. I guess you might understand me. As long as you act everything right with hearts, no need bother by those looser's words. As long as you consist on doing your paintings. The final sucess will you be. Just wait and watch, then you will see what I meant.

By the way, though I do not know you, I like appriciate western and oriental painting. Recently I google a famous ceased Chinese painter-Chang Dai Chein who I knew him when I was youg and knew his painting styles( I am Chinese). Back in 20 yrs ago, he just started be famous and 10 yrs ago, I should buy any painting from gallery that I had ability to afford to buy his painting. Now I got family and checked his painting already sold on Sorthby auction for 1 million US dollars in the current market I kind regret that I didn't put any money in art but tons of cds-musics I like. A lot of people( who do not know arts an kind rough inigorantsSmile ever commented that his painting was rough without tastes. So what? Now, he has been pasted and his painting is million high for national gallery collection level. Can those idiot afford? Oh, yeah. Just go to museum.
Doing art is kind lonely thing. You need to have sensitive of lights and eyes, and skew skill to express your feelings via a picture. Have you ever seen anyone go outdoor to paint with someone else aside him... never, including those famous western painters. None. On the contrary, you got to learn to enjoy the loneliness while painting. And enjoy yourself at party or family life while you do not do painting. That is kind philosophy. Wish you best in painting and happy go lucky for your life.

An artist can lose faith for many reasons.
You said that people tell you you're not that good but do you think you're not that good.
Referencing, having models and idols are good ways to reassure your faith in your artistic skill.
Always strive to do something new, go out, seek for great artists that blow up your mind and make some friends along the way.

Make them your rival(not enemy) so that you challenge yourself to surpass then one day.

You need a goal to be faithful and determined to be successful. Once you have a mission to what you want to do or where you want to be the rest is up to you.

If you can't climb the stairs by yourself, let yourself be supported by others that have the same goal or take part of those who are stumbling on the stairway path.

Basically don't try to do everything yourself seek others to help you intentionally or unintentionally.

And imo art is one the most so to say worthless degrees because there seems to lack enough creative people to make others think otherwise. I love art but my degree is industrial design so we'll see how that goes
