There are no actually socialist countries, and I don't know your definition of "works".

However, there's plenty of countries that have less serious poverty than the USA, and a considerably happier population.

Scandinavia and Germany are the only real countries with better economy than the US, and no reliance on oil.

The reason for that is not "socialism", but population that values education and honest work, and lack of immigration from cultures that do not share these values.
