I've noticed how facebook and some other websites have been playing video advertisement videos randomly. Most of them don't have a pause button so I just have to completely turn down the sound. And I don't want to close the page because I most likely will be doing something on that page.

Is this fair??? They are so annoying.

The ads are a sort of autoplay files. You can get rid of them simply by blocking popups.

Well, all of those sites are commercial, so they do whatever they can to get you to pay attention to their ads. But you are right, such ads are annoying, and when I first encountered them on YA, I searched for ways to get rid of them - and I have found solutions...:-)

Download and install the latest Firefox browser:
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-beta.html

Install "adblock plus":
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865

Result: no more annoying ads! And pages are loading much quicker too...:-)

http://opindian.com/blog/2009/02/25/adbl...s-and-mac/ - solution for Safari 4 Win and Mac.

I for one have the Firefox installed and don't see a single ad, no pop-up, no fly-in and no commercial videos on the Yahoo pages and on most other web sites...:-)
