There is a LOT of missing information, so I'll presume you're talking about notifications of what your friends are posting.

Go to each person that is the source of what you want to stop.

Click on the triangle next to the word "Friends."

You'll probably see a check next to the "Close Friends" line, if you do, click on "Acquaintances"
You'll probably also see a "Following" button with a check in it - click on that as well

Do this for anyone who's sending stuff you your mailbox if you want to stop it.

You'll still be friends, but you won't get the notifications anymore.
