Why be confused over something so simple to figure out? If a person has not talked to me face-to-face and eyeball-to-eyeball, they have yet to qualify themselves as a friend of mine -- no matter how many of them there are. When it comes to something as important to me as my circle of friends, I do not, as a matter of principle, grant that title so easily. To me, friendship is a matter of the heart, not a popularity contest whose sole goal is to aid me in deluding myself by flattering my ego. I may have far less friends than your unfortuned 1,500 but I value the friends I have far more than they do by spending time with them instead of just storing them in my computer as an ego trip.

Facebook and twitter are for the socially deprived who can't hold their own with the real thing. They deserve each other and I thank them all for informing me of who to avoid in social situations. Your real friends will be the ones who strive mightily to bring out the best in you rather than the worst in themselves and they will do so firm in the belief you will return the favor in your treatment of them. Which would you rather have -- 1500 people who only enjoy your presence in their life as long as they don't have to look at you or be with you; or 15 people who enjoy your company and prove it by going out of their way to spend time with you on a regular basis? It really is a question of quality over quantity for those worthy of friendship.

so they can think to themselves....wow, I'm popular!! and either openly boast about it (what a loser!) or casually "mention" it in conversation. Either way, it boggles my mind.
I have 34 people... some of which is family.
The rest are work friends, friends who live interstate or in another country or simply friends that, between my life and theirs we don't get to see each other too often.
It's a way to share the funny little things that happen in your life that aren't really worth a phone call.
But I "speak" to everyone on that list.
Sometimes I get friend requests from people I've never heard of and I do not automatically say yes. If I don't know them, I don't friend them.

They have added so many unknown friends in Facebook and twitter. There is nothing in the friends counts in social sites. Only you get many likes and comment in your posts and profile picture if you have many friends. So many friends in Friendlist doesn't mean they are cool.

I have 700 and something friends. I know like 500, from family, school, college, church, and the hair salon. The only reason why some girls have a lot of friends, is because of guys who want to have sex with them. Some guys befriend attractive girls to make themselves seem cooler on Facebook. My cousin is 14 and is the definition of a s-l-u-t. She sleeps with everyone, has 1700 friends, not to mention she lies about her age on Facebook. Oh and she post nasty slutty pictures of herself on Facebook. She just has all of those friends to sleep with them. Well I am one person who won't be friends with her.
