Why would someone repeatedly deactivate and reactivate a Facebook account.?
My mate deactivated his facebook account, a few days later he reactivated it. Then another few days later he deactivated it again. I haven't seen him for a month. I don't want to ask him why he's done it because I feel nosey. Why would someone do this?

I had a friend from high-school who did the same thing. I was tired as hell of adding her over and over. This happened at least 3 to 4 times. Come to find out, she had an abusive and controlling husband that did not want her to have it.

I wonder if your friend is being harassed by somebody that maybe he's trying to shake off by deactivating it. Maybe he's not comfortable with having a Facebook. Maybe he has no clue how to work it. Maybe he can't decide if having one is worth it. Maybe he deactivates it out of protection, thinking if he leaves it unattended for a long time, something might happen to his profile or information. So shutting it down temporarily makes me feel better.

If you want to ask him, just say something like
"Hey, bud. I noticed the other day you profile keeps disappearing. I just wanted to make sure it was you doing it and not some crazy hacker."

Try that.

He's showing off, hoping someone like you would notice his dramatics.

Ignore it.

He probably can't decide if he wants Facebook or not one day he thinks it stupid for whatever reason and another day he regrets his decision and decides he wants to be connected again. I did this before but only once then I realized how stupid Facebook is and deleted it for good so now I can't even reactivate if I wanted to (which I don't lol)

I mean I used to do that. The reason why I did it was because I didn't really like the social networking world. Then realized that everyone needs one because its the easiest way to find people. It pretty Much depends how is he like on Facebook. Is he the type to write motivational statuses? Because those people are the depressed ones.

Hey, I also do the exact thing you are talking about but my reason is the fact that I cannot decide whether I should keep my facebook account or not! This is not about showing off in any ways! I don't know about your mate but this is my reason so maybe it could give you an idea.. but he may have a different reason so I think the best way is to ask him about it without being too nosey or bothering him if you are too curious about it! Good luck!
