Facebook mobile notifications?

I have an iPhone with the Facebook app on it. I have all push notifications turned off and everything, but here lately I've been getting a text-like alert every time any of my friends makes a post or uploads a picture to their timeline. It's very annoying! I was okay with getting those when someone responded to MY post or MY pictures, but I don't want everything alerted that way! For the record it's not an actual text... it doesn't show up in my text history but it looks and sounds like one. It must be coming from the app on the phone because I don't have my phone number associated with my FB account.

I'm just about to delete this stupid app for this.
Nope, I only have the main Facebook app on the phone and I don't get email notifications from the Facebook site. My email notices don't cause a 'pop up' like a text message does, which this is doing just like it were a text.

First off Facebook has two apps Facebook and Facebook Messenger make sure you don't have both installed and if you do disable alerts on both and see if that does it.

Second if you have facebook sending email alerts and you might be getting email notices that look like facebook app notices.
