Has Yahoo! even noticed the hordes of long-time members who are bailing because of the new format?

Unless they provide some way to make the new format work better on an actual computer, I might end up being one of those who abandons the site when there is no longer a way to escape the "upgrade."

On the blog post stating they intend to roll it out to all the International pages of Y!A it claims a new "feature" is that the purple format is "optimized for mobile." What that really means is that they are forcing a tablet-oriented format on people with real computers, which is a significant downgrade in usability.

They seem to be jumping onto the same anti-computer bandwagon that Apple and Microsoft have been pursuing, dumbing the interface down so that it works with a finger-painting input system. If they don't give some thought to those of us who still use keyboards and mice, then I am just going to go elsewhere, along with my clicks and advertising revenue.

This has all the hallmarks of a dysfunctional corporate bureaucracy.

The employees who will notice probably aren't empowered to do anything about it, and it will probably take two quarters of declining revenue before the people who matter become aware. By then most users will be gone for good.

They had months and months of negative feedback on the suggestion board, yet they still crammed through this atrocity. I doubt they will change their minds now.

@Captain Sarcastic - I agree 100%.

I notice you're posting from Canada using the old format.
They dump this stuff on the USA where people are trained that any change is "progress" and must be better.
The USA is the country that let the car industry sell them on "the space saver tire"
the rest of the world is harder to fool

The wheels are large and they move slowly. I complained to Y/A US and then started using Y/A Canada because it had the old green format. I also passed the info on to everyone I know. I stayed with Y/A Canada for months -- must have been three or four -- and then Y/A US brought the old format back.

I recommend switching to whatever site has the old format. Eventually it will get through their thick heads.

No, they don't care. It's about selling numbers to advertisers. A dormant account is an account just the same.

I doubt it,quality doesn't matter to Yahoo,only quantity,and people are still joining.

...Tofu,they may have had negative feedback but they also have had sycophantic proclamations from the "you're awesome" crowd telling them that everything they do and change is great.

You know the type, all textspeak and smiley faces,as if they're twelve years old.

Yahoo! has never cared.

Once, we begged them to allow us to keep our full-color 360 pages, where we could chat with other members, blog about various subjects, post videos and images. Had Yahoo! done so, their 360 could have blown facebook out of the water. Instead, we were given these ridiculous profiles that no one here likes.

Over the years, we have pleaded with Yahoo! to not allow community moderation, to please read any and all complaints and appeals before turning them over to a bot. Yahoo! has turned a blind eye and deaf ear. The mass exodus began, and has continued for years.

Yahoo! doesn't care about those of us who have stayed here and built this place into what it is (was). Our loyalty has been repaid with an awful, unusable format. Hordes will leave, but the trolls will replace them so Yahoo! won't notice right away... But notice they will, and the site will go down. When it becomes completely impossible to receive a decent answer to serious questions, people will stop asking here.

ps...Were you aware that when I joined eight years ago, it was not uncommon to receive 40+ answers to each and every question? I have asked two which have surpassed the 100 answer mark. That was a goal all of us tried to reach. Smile

The questions came so fast and furious that by the time a decent answer could be given, you'd find that the question was two pages back. Now we sit, listening to crickets. Questions receive few answers, many which are one-liners. So few people care...

I have not stopped caring about the asker, but when my format changes and cannot be switched back, I will bid a permanent adieu. I don't do facebook, so these moments now are the last I will have with so many of you.

(((((Everyone)))))

Bill, I'll tell you how little Yahoo! cares...

There was a night 7 years ago when several of us asked that everyone list their unfair violations, appeals, and Y!A's response. Then, after getting my kids off to bed, I spent the entire night moving each individual answer to a post on the suggestions board. I had to do this one at a time because I could not copy/paste the entire page.

Hayden Lyfe (my very favorite user, sorry... He was precious to me, and I miss him terribly) kept others from posting on the suggestions thread, so that Yammie would be faced with an uninterrupted list of unfair violations and the ways in which they handled this. It took me all night, and I did not stop until my kids awoke for school at 5 a.m.

Yes, I sat here all night, with Hayden covering my back, and moved over 400 posts.

Did this make a difference? No. Yahoo! staffers had to have read this, but they could not be bothered to even give a reply. Instead, they removed my thread and gave me an Administrative Notice. Not a VN, but an AN. From time spent on the Message Boards, I was well aware that three AN's would result in account deletion.

Do they care? Not even a bit.

I come in thru the Canada site. It is the old format that way.

As for Yahoo caring, Yahoo has really gone downhill in the past few years. The email is so bad that their own employees do not use it.
http://consumerist.com/2013/11/26/even-y...ahoo-mail/

Their news coverage has gotten worse and worse. I used to be able to find great articles and keep on top of things. Lately I have noticed them putting Dear Abby as the first article in the list.

Yahoo Answers format change is pretty messed up too. At the moment there is a work around but who knows when they will change that.
