why is it people seem different in real life compared to their facebook profiles?
for example one person might have 200+ friends on facebook, but in reality they are quiet and keep to themselves..

Most people on Facebook add people they're just acquainted with, or they've seen them around at school but don't really know them at all. The number of Facebook friends someone got doesn't mean the number of good friends they got...
I don't have that "type" of Facebook anymore - like I used to have 600 friends, yet I only had a handful of good friends... and most of those "friends" on Facebook I didn't even interact with at all, but they were still on my list. Today, I only have a Facebook for talking to close friends. That's it. Ads |

Facebook is an artificial construct. It is not a full reflection of ones personality, but rather the portrayal of what a 20-something college dropout feels what is important in one's life.
Let that one soak in... The true measure of a person is their experiences, abilities and relationships. None of which as adequately and accurately reflected in one's facebook profile. |

Facebook profiles are advertising, aren't they? People want to appear, likeable, so they add people to make it look as though they have lots of friends, they post the best looking pictures of themselves, etc.
If you think Facebook profiles are bad,.try dating sites.... |

A coworker from long ago is desperately trying to reach 3,000 friends. Me? I have less than 40 and I know all of them personally.
