Adding friends on Facebook?
Do people often add each other as friends on Facebook, even if they don't actually know each other in person, as they do on Youtube?

Sometimes. If you are friends with their friends on facebook you might come up in their suggested friends list. But, you DON'T have to accept it.

You can add celebs etc, but for anyone else you request to add and it is upto them if they accept.
