Social Media Networking Site Creation?

Do you guys think it's a good idea to start a social networking site if you have basic knowledge of programming? I'm not the only one that's going to code the site, but I also have my little group of programmers. We've got ideas, etc. Anyways, do you guys have your own opinions to whether or not a social networking site is really a good idea? (We're also below the age of 17.)

Social media marketing is a completely new, but vital part of online marketing that has taken off in the last few years. Social media marketing is very important to enhance and support search engine optimization efforts as once a page of a site or a link is found by social media users, it can then go 'viral' pointing many links back to the website which in turn is seen as a sign of popularity to the search genies and giving a boost in rankings to the said site.
