What is tweeting and how does it work?

I know about social media but I am not that familar with it. I don't have a Twitter account but what is twitting and how does it work? Please help. Thanks.

Tweeting is just like writing a status on facebook, but o. Twitter you can follow friends and celebrities.

like Aaron said much like the main page of facebook it is much faster to pull up on a smartphone than facebook or G+ because less extras. Just one of the ways to communicate online

it you @ message someone on twitter is like writing on their facebook page and people who follow/friend both of you can see it, You can also DM Direct Message but don't be a Wiener and get the dm and @ confused :-)

I use https://twitter.com/zackmann but there are many people much more interesting than I am.

Celebrities on twitter are generally excruciatingly dull but there are several comicbook and webcomic people using twitter. I a mainly use it to see if any of my favorite podcasts have been updated recently since the creators tend to post tweets when they have.
