I may be a victim of stolen facebook account?

is it possible that someone can steal my facebook account through hacking even though i scanned my computer several times with Microsoft Essential Security and found nothing?
i didn't download any software from the internet. what is this ,,packet sniffer"? no one had acces to my computer, no one touched it. if i plug in a new ,,clean" (new) computer and change my password do i solve the problem?

Microsoft Security Essentials could not catch a cold. I use and recommend AVG Internet Security, Anti Virus, Anti Spyware, Anti Spam,Firewall, Link Scanner, Resident Shield, Family Safety, Live Kive, Email Scanner,Update Manager, Online Shield,Anti Rootkit, System Tools, PC Analyser, have to pay extra for this, not much use anyway, Identity Protection. It is possible that somebody knows your password and has logged into your account from their own computer. Your computer would not be able to tell this even if you ran Microsoft Security Essentials. It is also possible that somebody may have "hacked" into your computer using a packet sniffer to steal your password - unlikely, but possible. Microsoft Security Essentials would not detect this either.

Yes, it's very possible. Most people don't have a clue instead they believe that virus/Trojans are the only reason to why they would be a victim. All I can tell you is, that's not a true fact.

Virus or Trojans can however spread sending out your passwords to hackers..etc, but a hacker can get your password through many ways.

Ask yourself, have you made any recent connection with anything that seems odd on the web?
How about a phisher, a fake login screen?

Usually a script kiddies or noobies would go with that route. It's the most common way to steal a person's passwords.

Just note that you want to avoid fake login screens or fake forms in general on the web. Check the url before you even touch the form. For all you know, it could be fake.

Never say a person has no access to your computer because a person can alwaise access it as long as it's connected to the web. The trick to avoid having somebody remote your PC or hack it in some way is to disconnect from the web when you're not using it. Otherwise, you just gotta make sure you're not connected with anybody in any other way..

Yes, it's possible. More than likely a victim of a facebook or a certain account would be hacked thanks to social engineering or a phisher. That's the most common method I know of that people would use to hack into accounts. Their are other ways ofcourse, but yea..

Simply changing the password does help somewhat, but it's not enough help to avoid the problem later on. I suggest you change your password every few weeks and keep up to date with security.
