Want to get social networking banned/deleted from the internet, how can I help make this happen?
(Facebook, Twitter, Myspace, ect.) Ugh..! I'm a teenage girl (14 years old) of this generation, and I am sort of ashamed of what this generation has come to. Everybody my age has a Facebook or Twitter, where they have no privacy. They post pictures of themselves (closeup & swimsuit!), and let everybody know what they are doing. (Example: Going to the mall in an hour.) Plus, girls take pictures of themselves, close up & making a "duck face" or some expression that makes them look rediculous! I've heard alot of storys of kidnappings due to social networks, and I wish I could stop this. But I feel helpless, I really want to put a stop to this but I can't! Plus, kids are getting bullied online, and another things... It makes broken relationships harder, now you can stalk your ex-boyfriend/girlfriend after a bad break-up. And I just wish it was like it was in the 90's/80's, sure we had email but social networking has gotten out of control! Obesity has increased in the youth, kids spend all day on the computer "facebooking" or "tweeting". I miss the 90's so so much! I wasn't there for the 80's but from the looks (and storys from my parents) it sure was alot better. I could go on about how great the 90's and 80's were, but let me get to the point. I really think it would be best if there was no "social network", and kids would just talk face to face and hang-out more. Oh, another thing! It is a whole lot easier to be anti-social now. You don't have to look people in the face when you talk to them. Anyways, please let me know how to make this stop.. I'm not trying to offend people (if I did, I'm sorry), I'm trying to help. Maybe this generation could make-up for the laziness we have shown. I'm of this generation, I will admit I'm pretty lazy, but I have tried to get out more. Going to the park, mall, its great! Now, I know it is not as safe as it was in the 80's & 90's, but it's better to get around every once in a while. I want to say again, that this is for everybody's own good. I just watch old movies from back then (80's & 90's) and I get kind of down... Cause its not like like that anymore! Technology is advancing, and its changing the way we live (in a bad way). We get lots of benefits from these devices (tablets. iPhones, ect.), but we are taking advantage of it. Taking it too far! Please help me put a stop to this... I'm really concerned. I am of this generation, but I don't think it is safe or healthy, the direction social networking is taking us. How can I at least help, or get support, for stopping/deleting/banning these social networks from the internet? Please tell me... Thank you.
I know I can't actually get it banned ,but maybe I can raise Internet safety awareness..?
