Computer help please?
My dad is most likely giving me his old computer and when I say old I mean 2007 windows old, it hasn't been updated or nothing along them lines but it still runs fair well. Now when he gives it to me, all I want to know is can I put a new motherboard and graphics card in it. Just enough to run like new games. How much would a motherboard and a graphics card be? Just enough to run like DayZ maybe? I don't know? Please help, oh and I am not that good with computers so keep it simple thanks! XD

You could buy a GPU, high end ones are about $400, or a graphics card and motherboard, high end stuff about $360.

P.S. If you aren't good at computers I would not recommend trying to install a Graphics Card and Motherboard.

First off, that has the potential to be a lot of trouble and cost because more than likely it is a pre-built computer that was made to run office programs and other day to day tasks, not to be used for a gaming computer. Which means that you probably can't just replace the motherboard and graphics card. You will more than likely have to replace the motherboard, graphics card, processor, RAM, and power supply. Maybe you will be lucky and it will have a decent dual core processor in it and a motherboard that already supports the ability to add the needed RAM and graphics card, but I doubt it. It would be best if you could give the model number information for the computer so we could know. And if you could open it up and see if the motherboard has any free slots for expansion. If you did have to replace the motherboard, you would probably end up having to replace the operating system too. I would need more information before directing you which path would be best between upgrading what you have, replacing components inside the case, building one, or just purchasing one if gaming is your ultimate intention.

Please include the link to your yahoo question so I can know what the issue is and I will respond as quickly as I can. Typically you will recieve a response within an hour, but it will depend on total workload.

When you get the computer download and install CPU Z and let us know what the motherboard (MOBO) Maker and Model is and CPU is and Memory is.

Of course, you can put new mother board with high specifications but it would be better to upgrade RAM and processor. Try to get some best and present branding specifications from the internet or any IT professional that fulfils your desires and applications.
