I never really cared or noticed that skin color was so important until I started understanding society now a days . ( if that makes sense to you.) I'm a 14 year old girl . I'm black , but I'm not dark . I'm a Carmel color kind of . I feel like to be pretty or beautiful I need to be lighter . If you have social networks , all the time you see beautiful girls but they're mostly white . For instance , Tumblr Girls ! I rarely ever see a black tumblr girl ! My bestfriend is white , blond hair , blue eyes . Yeah you get the picture . Every single guy loves her ! It lowers my self esteem so much . Society makes white people look good with their star bucks and them automatically being rich while black people are just dumb stupid ugly and all they eat is fried chicken ! Ugh it kills me !! I feel like most guys don't like girls darker than them . There's so much more I have to say but not enough space lol . But can someone please help me to feel beautiful . Maybe white people are just better.

Don't ever let anything make you feel like you have to be lighter to be beautiful.You do not. Skin colour doesn't limit beauty.

Omg there's so much wrong with this. You belong to a rich culture of beautiful people that stick together and take care of one another. Tumblr girls and people that pay 5bucks for a coffee just look like posers following fads. No culture there. Stop doing this to yourself. Be proud and happy baby!

Not really, there are no absolutes when it comes to beauty - for every person differes in taste and preference - black, brown, white, yellow etc. If every person differs in taste then no one is singled out as being better than the other really apart from an individuals point of view.

That being said I tend to prefer Latino/Hispanic girls - I'm not racist towards others though, I just don't find them attractive on average.

As cliche as it sounds-you're perfect just the way you are! Everyone is different, and we have to accept that. As for the boys-don't worry. 14 year old boys are immature and don't even know whats good for them (hehe). As you get older, you will realize that each man or boy prefers something different. Some like short girls, some like tall. Some like white women, and some like coloured women. The key to attracting others to you, is to feel comfortable AND confident in your own skin. This will exert such an appeal that no outside beauty can replicate. Always remember that you can't change the way you are, you can only enhance it. You're a beautiful young girl, and no one can take that away!

Omg I used to think the same thing !! but i'm mixed and honey complexioned but You know what every skin tone is beautiful !! PLEASE WHILE YOU CAN STOP LOOKING AT TUMBLR GIRLS !! they are totally airbrushed all of them !!
