Facebook and Twitter apps won't work without wi-fi?
I have a BlackBerry 9360 on an O2 contract. My phone was recently replaced as the last one broke. Since I've had the new phone my facebook and twitter apps will not work without being connected to wi-fi. It says something about not having a data plan that supports the application. I could go on these apps before it was replaced. I can use the browser without wi-fi, it's just the apps that don't work.

A BlackBerry Device will not let you use its built-in or downloadable Social Media apps without a BlackBerry Internet Service ("BIS")-enabled plan. This plan, as covered by your supported carrier, O2, is slightly unique compared to other smartphone data plans. This data plan enables BIS and all of its included features, including notifications, BlackBerry Messenger ("BBM"), BlackBerry E-mail and Synchronisation Services.

Without BIS, you will be unable to use many apps that rely on the service. This includes apps like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, BBM, Skype, and plenty of other apps.

Please contact O2 for further information about adding the BlackBerry Internet Service to your plan.

If you already have a BIS-enabled plan and you are still unable to do anything on apps that require BIS, try going to the following:

Options -> Advanced Options -> Host Routing Table

Press the BlackBerry button from there and select "Register Now." If it still does not function, contact O2 or BlackBerry to have this issue further resolved.
