This is a really tough one. It's almost impossible to close a facebook account. I recently heard talk about a woman who wanted to close her facebook account. She had to lobby facebook for 3 months before it eventually got done for her. There seems to be no way to delete your own account unless things have changed.

One idea is to remove all of your data from the account and let it fall into dis-use. Some web sites will automatically close an account that isn't used for a certain period of time. Make sure you delete all of your personal details, recent posts and photos. All that will be left is your name on a totally anonymous page. Then if you like you can create a new page for yourself using just a slight variation of your name (ie: include your middle initial).

You did say that your accounts had been compromised. Does this mean another person has access and can continue to misuse your account? You need to contact the companies about this directly. In the meantime you should change your password and make sure that NOTHING else you have uses the same password. A lot of people make the mistake of using one or two passwords for everything and this is a hackers dream. There are sites out there (some are perfect copies of other sites and then link you to the site so what really happens is that they record your keystrokes as you put in your password, then pass you to the real site so you think you logged in there all along) that just want to get your password so they can try it on your other accounts, such as your online banking access or other personal sites. To avoid this you need to use a totally different password for everything important and you also need to make sure you NEVER log in to facebook, your bank or ANYTHING via an email link, even if it looks legit like if your bank sends you an email about something mundane like a new account feature or other legit sounding notice similar to the crap they regularly send out through normal mail -always log in by going directly to the official website). So you should now immediately change your passwords on any site where you have used the same one.
