Someone showed picture of my friend smoking weed to the guidance counselor?

Can a person get in trouble if someone shows a guidance counselor pics of them smoking weed on instagram? He said he will lie and say it's not weed its a black or cigar but could they get in trouble still?

Of course he could. It's illegal for him to be smoking cigars as well, and probably smoking "a black" as well, whatever that is.
