Someone showed a picture to the guidance counselor of my friend smoking?
Can a person get in trouble if someone shows a guidance counselor pics of them smoking weed on instagram? He said he will lie and say it's not weed its a black or cigar but could they get in trouble still?
He is 18 but still in high school (12th grade)

Also if he lies and says its a cigar can they do anything since he's legal to smoke a cigar

You can only be arrested for possession, not for having possessed in the past

They can get him in trouble with the school or something if they really wanted but no they can not press legal charges unless he has it on him. And what a snitch douche for telling on him

Yes, he should definitely say its a cigar and dont admit that its weed. But overall its not the smartest idea to have pictures of you taking drugs, publicly. Obviously, if it were on school premises it would be far worse, but him posting a pic of himself, with drugs doesnt give the school a good image, and will influence others in smoking weed, kids who fail to hide it from their parents will have their balls busted and it will all fall down on the school. This is the main reason schools are concerned, their reputation. So yes he should definitely lie and say its not weed, as long as there are no hashtags saying it was. I mean I take a few things every now and then but if they were publicly available, I would never gotten jobs etc. This type of data is so precious to everyone these days as the smallest thing they can find out about you, can scrw you for the rest of your life. Just tell your friend to say it was a rollie, or whatever it looks like, if it genuinely doesnt look like a joint or weed (teachers arent stupid). And just be extra careful!

Obviously they can't tell if it's a cigar or not from just a picture. So of course don't admit it's weed.

And no, they can't do anything about it (unless It was on school property) . He's of legal age. I'd tell them to butt out
