How to get around internet time limits.?
Each month as a four person family we have a download limit of 40GB of internet per month. That might sound a lot but me and my brother are heavy internet users, so the download limit runs out before the end of the month. To stop in download limit all being used my dad found out unfortunately that you can set internet time limits. He did this and set them from 2pm till 10pm. This meant that I couldn't use the internet when i wanted to which makes me feel restricted(which i hate) and thought off as a child.

I started to look for ways to get around this on the internet(when I was on it). I found out on a website that all you need to do is to change your mac address and it had a tutorial on how to do that. It worked! No more time limits, I was happy once more. One day my dad found out and told me that if I change my mac address again that he will take my laptop off me permanently. As a punishment he changed the time limit so I couldn't go on the internet at all. This annoyed and me and my mum, so my mum said to him I need it to do my homework on. My dad agreed and changed the time limit to 4 pm till 9pm. This was ok with my mum but it still annoys me greatly. It annoys me because on a school day I get home at half four so half an hour gone already. We have dinner for about an hour so that's another hour gone. Most nights I do home work for an hour or longer, so that an hour gone. I would have a shower so that's half an hour as well. All together that leaves me with only two hours on the internet and that's not including any other things I might do.

What am I meant to do with the internet in two hours. I am a teenager who has a social life. I go on Facebook, Twitter etc. I do online gaming and stream tv shows. Two hours is not enough to do all that. I hope some of you may agree with me on that.

Two hours isn't enough, so basically what I'm asking is there any other way to get around the time limits that's not involved in changing the mac address. If there isn't then has anyone got any suggestions how I might convince my dad that two hours is not enough and that the time limits are really annoying me.

I am not asking for people to say that what I'm doing is wrong as i did try to reason with him before and it didn't work.

If you don't want to be treated like a child you need to GROW UP!!! When you are making the connection go over limit it either gets your parents charged extra, or gets the service capped or even stopped until the next payment period is due. If you persist some ISPs will actually terminate your service unless you subscribe to a higher limit service and that may be VERY expensive. And maybe your parents have a struggle supporting a pair of expensive spoiled greedy children with no sense of responsibility. I see families of 6 and more using lower download limits than that successfully. You should think yourself lucky you have any Internet when there are thousands of children dying every day because their parents can't even afford to buy them food.

Stop trying to outsmart your father so he stops taking away your internet. It doesn't seem to have been very successful so far.

But, you did ask for advice so here are some ideas that might help:

Offer to pay for more internet usage.

Trade household jobs for internet time.

Trade with your brother for their internet time. Good luck with that one.

See if you can buy a phone with internet and pay for your own data plan. You could use that for your social interactions on Twitter and Facebook.

Organize your internet time more efficiently. Don't try to do everything every day. Game one day, socialize one day, stream another day.

Find ways to do things offline. You can rent movies instead of streaming them, for example.

Ask your father for ways to increase your internet time. Negotiate.

Go to a public wifi spot.

Hope these help.
