Do parents have the right to monitor teens webpages?
Many teens set up web pages with personal photos and profiles describing their interests. Some parents fear their teens’ web postings might reveal too much personal information. They want to be able to monitor teen web communities. Many teens, however, believe that such monitoring is a violation of their privacy.

Do you you support the viewpoint that parents should have the right to monitor teens’ personal web pages? or Do you support the viewpoint that this monitoring is a violation of teens’ privacy?

Please defend your opinion with reasons and examples.

Thank you in advance.

You're a teen you have no privacy. Teenagers want to be grown so soon and with no responsibility! I think all parents should get involved with their teens.

I strongly believe that it is up to parent to control and monitor anything that children put on the internet. There are some truly sick and perverted people that troll certain social networking sites. I am a mom and I do not let my children on any website that I have not expressly looked at or visited with them in the past. I think that sometimes because we are such an electronically driven society we just hand our kids their electronic babysitters and toon them out. Especially if you have more than one kid (like me) and they get on whatever website, game or chatroom that they want. I don't think that any child in this day and age has an reasonable expectation of privacy because someone, somewhere with publicize whatever they're doing on Facebook or Twitter. So I would definitely montior their pages and be their friends so that I could see everything that they post or like.
