Is it wrong to make friends with someone to get closer to their friend?

Ok so it's a long story so I won't go into all of it. But I met a guy on holiday (let's call him Tory) and I miss him so much I've never hurt this much. It's been about 5 months now and I haven't spoken or seen him because I added him on Facebook but he doesn't go on it much so we can't talk on there. But I saw on his page that he's friends with someone I know (let's call him rob). I don't know rob that well but I used to go to school with him and we're friends on Facebook. Would it be wrong to make friends with him to get closer to Tori?
