Do you think dog breeds like pitbulls and rottweilers get unfairly stereotyped?

Genetics trump training...always.

While well bred and cared for dogs of these breeds are stable, reliable animals, large numbers of these dogs are not and they do cause problems. It's reality.

Breeders, owners, the general public need to have a realistic understanding of the breeds, the real issues and reasonable solutions. It's not all one way or the other.

Absolutely. They're watchdogs, people who antagonize them get bit.

Yes, they are unfairly stereotyped.
No, it is not how they are raised.

I have known good dogs with bad owners and bad dogs with good owners.
It's just that a good owner can deal with a bad dog in the correct way.
The bad owners with good dogs just got darn lucky.

I have 3 dogs. My 7 year old Pit mix does not like other dogs. I am aware of it, and he has only gone after two dogs while under my direct supervision.
One of those was when another dog got away from it's owner and went after my female Pit and my male stepped in and took out the other dog. The other was during a beginning agility class, I had to drop the leash to send him thru a tunnel, he went in, turned around, came out and charged a Dobie. I removed my dog was immediately from class.

I have a friend with a Border Collie, who is Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde. Sometimes he loves everyone, other times, he doesn't want anyone around. He has an experienced owner how knows how to handle him, and they have never had an incident.

Pitt bulls and pitt mutts are not unfairly hated. They killed 60 people last year and 20 this. They are the TOP breed for the most dog attack related deaths and the TOP breed for bites and mauling

It has nothing to do with how the dog is raised. They are aggressive dogs
